Terms of Service

What we do
Skylar is a referral service. We introduce homeowners to independent contractors. We do not perform contracting work, we do not employ the contractors, and we are not a party to any agreement you reach with one. Pricing, scheduling, workmanship, warranties and payment are between you and the contractor.
Our vetting, stated plainly
Before a contractor can receive work from us we verify that they hold the license their trade requires and that they carry insurance. That is a real check and we take it seriously, but it is not a guarantee of the quality of any particular job. We encourage you to get more than one quote, confirm the license yourself, and put the scope and price in writing before work begins.
Using the service
The service is free for homeowners. Give us accurate information — a wrong address or phone number mostly wastes your own time. Don't use the service to submit requests you don't actually want fulfilled.
Messages
If you give us your mobile number and consent, we'll text you about your request. Reply STOP at any time to end messages permanently. See our Privacy Policy.
Limits
We provide the service as it is. We don't promise a contractor will be available for every request, that any contractor will quote a price you like, or that the work will meet your expectations — those outcomes aren't ours to promise. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability to you for anything arising out of this service is limited to the amount you paid us, which for homeowners is nothing. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Disputes with a contractor
Tell us. We can't adjudicate it, but a contractor who mistreats a homeowner stops receiving work from us, and that is a consequence we can actually deliver.
